Yen Bai achieves comprehensive development of transportation infrastructure

Yen Bai develops comprehensive transportation infrastructure, prioritizing projects that connect national highways with the Noi Bai - Lao Cai Expressway, regional linkage projects, and those connecting Yen Bai province with localities in the Northern Midlands and Mountainous region. The focus is on key projects and several important regional and inter-regional connecting roads. As of now, the transportation infrastructure system in Yen Bai has achieved significant progress.
Yen Bai, with its complex terrain of steep hills and significant segmentation, often affected by harsh weather conditions, requires substantial investment resources to develop synchronized transportation infrastructure.
Faced with these realities, the transportation sector of Yen Bai has actively advised the Ministry of Transport and the provincial People's Committee to effectively implement the development of the transportation network and infrastructure based on national transportation planning, particularly the Yen Bai provincial plan for the 2021-2030 period with a vision to 2050, approved by the Prime Minister.
This involves prioritizing investment in key transportation projects and works in the province that have regional and inter-regional connectivity and links to the Noi Bai - Lao Cai Expressway, creating breakthroughs in socio-economic development and transportation infrastructure.
Simultaneously, the sector maximizes the current transportation infrastructure's capacity, efficiently manages, repairs, and maintains the road system, especially national and provincial roads, and regional and inter-regional routes. Black spots and unsafe areas are gradually eliminated to ensure smooth traffic flow.
Mr. Tran Viet Dung, Director of the Department of Transport, stated that the sector has identified attracting investment, particularly through public-private partnerships (PPP), for developing the transportation network and infrastructure as a critical political task. With strong leadership and determination, the aim is to attract major investors with the capability and experience to develop transportation infrastructure serving the province's socio-economic development.
Yen Bai mobilizes resources to boost rural transportation development in line with the three national target programs under the rural transportation development plan in the province.
From 2021 to 2025, Yen Bai province has 26 key projects under provincial investment decisions, including 17 transportation infrastructure projects with a total investment of approximately VND 9,800 billion. These account for 65.38% of the key project portfolio and 73.68% of the total investment capital for key works. Additionally, resources are mobilized to enhance rural transportation development in line with the three national target programs under the rural transportation development plan in the province.
Mr. Tran Viet Dung further noted that from 2021 to now, 16 key projects and works in the province have been under implementation. In addition to those completed and put into operation, Yen Bai is continuing to invest in several major projects.
Specifically, these include roads connecting Muong La (Son La), Than Uyen, Tan Uyen (Lai Chau), Mu Cang Chai, Van Chan, and Van Yen (Yen Bai) with the Noi Bai - Lao Cai Expressway (IC15); roads linking National Highways 70, 32C, and 37 with the Noi Bai - Lao Cai Expressway; the road connecting National Highway 32 to the Noi Bai - Lao Cai Expressway (IC15); improvements and upgrades to roads connecting National Highway 37 to the Noi Bai - Lao Cai Expressway (IC15); and the IC13 interchange on the Noi Bai - Lao Cai Expressway.
Additionally, the maintenance and upgrading of national and provincial roads have received special attention and investment from the Ministry of Transport and the provincial People's Committee. The Ministry of Transport has allocated 614 billion VND primarily for repairing and upgrading national highways and replacing weak bridges.
The sector has focused on developing transportation planning, strengthening inspection and supervision, and enhancing collaboration with departments, agencies, localities, and investors during the implementation of key transportation projects in the province. Efforts to leverage internal strengths and promote rural road construction have led to rapid, focused, and synchronized transportation infrastructure development in Yen Bai in recent years, driving economic and social growth while ensuring regional and provincial security and defense.
